Review of home kit for testing HbA1c. Called A1C Now
https://www.bhr.co.uk/review/product/list/id/151/category/8/ I was asked to review this product as I contacted the company ages ago when their product was just available in the USA and once it was launched here. They contacted me for me to try it and see what it was like. I have just done the test did it whilst Harry was asleep so that he did not worry about what I was doing. The test was easy to use and to do without any hassle. Before I had had to put a drop of Harry blood into a long test tube container to give to GP to then send to hospital for the hospital to test hbA1c bloods then luckily after 6 years of doing this my hospital for my son got a machine so bloods were collected every 3 months at our appointment. I was looking to use something inbetween our hospital appointments and searched on line to see if there was anything and came across this product. This product is very easy to use it surprised me. It costs £42.91 for this you get a meter that tests the bloods for your hbA1c result you have a pack with lancet blood collector and shaker and another pack which has the cartridge pouch in. The pack allows you to carry out 2 hbA1c tests and then you throw away the whole thing and will need to purchase another complete set to do any more. The test is very easy to do. I washed my son's finger as usual whilst he was asleep there was no need to wake him. There is a lancet provided I used our own lancet as I did the test at the same time as doing a normal blood sugar test. There is a blood collector which you just touch the blood and the blood is sucked up. You can add more blood if need be. you then insert the blood collector to the shaker making sure it there is no gaps and then you shake for 5 seconds. Once this is done you open the pouch that containts the cartridge and insert the cartridge into the A1CNow meter you then wait for the display to sayt "SMPL" dislay then you remove the base from the shaker and press shaker into the cartridge once it says "run" on display remove the shaker and do not touch the meter whilst it count downs to the result. It will then display QCOK and then the result. Our result was 57 for 22nd July 2017. you then remove the shaker and bin the shaker but keep the A1c Now meter for the next test you do. My son was still asleep at the end of the test as the test was easy to use and quiet. Very easy to do and is great for inbetween the tests you have with the consultant.
