This year is even more special and so important to us. We have dedicated our walk in memory of Tommy Green the son of a very special friend of mine Jo and his lovely family Jo, Nick and Molly and all his family and friends. Tommy lost his life this year in May due to him having a stomach bug on top of his type 1 diabetes. Tommy was just 21 years old last October. A beautiful amazing, kind, stunning, caring son to Jo and Nick and amazing brother to Molly and amazing friend to so many.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR 20 COMPANIES OR INDIVIDUALS TO SPONSOR MY SON FOR OUR JDRF WALK AND DONATE £50 each so that we raise £1000 for our 7th JDRF Walk.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP US RAISE THIS MONEY SO VITAL RESEARCH CAN BE DONE.

For anyone living with type 1 diabetes or a parent of a child with type 1 diabetes. This is our fear each day as during the night blood sugar levels can drop and if untreated are very dangerous. If you have a cold, flu, sickness bug this will affect blood sugars and if blood sugars go high and you can develop ketones it can lead to ketosis. Any sickness bug requires regular testing of blood sugars, checking ketones, and supervision 24-7.
If blood sugars levels are high over 13ml this is a hyper and the person will need to take action to bring levels done insulin, water. Only a person who has been trained and knows about type 1 diabetes can admister insulin injections. Phone 999 if concerned for someone who is ill who also has type 1 diabetes.
If blood sugars go low 4ml or below THIS IS A HYPO - the person with type 1 diabetes needs to have sugar in a form of either a drink like fresh orange juice, full sugar coke or similar must have sugar not be diet or no added sugar, this will bring sugar levels up. retest bloods and once over 5ml they need to have a carb snack. If person is unconsious and has low blood sugar levels they need to have medical help immediately.
