There are many ways we can help our local area to provide care for homeless people. By volunteering at local charities that do food drops, by donating to your local Salvation Army. You could also make care packs and hand these out making sure you find out what the best these to put in care packs are.https://foodlets.com/2017/12/15/what-to-put-in-care-packages-for-the-homeless/
where I live I have made up a few care packs for the homeless people I know only a few packs which is not much but I wanted to find out what is being done in my local community to reduce homelessness or help improve the lives of the local homeless people. In December I contacted a local charity called “Amazing Grace Spaces “ which was founded by a husband and wife team who have for years helped provide care and positive actions for homelessness in local area http://amazinggracespaces.org
This charity have plans to help the local area by providing sleeping pods which cost £5500 each aiming to raise money for 10 sleeping pods for the local area. These sleeping pods are to provide respite for a certain time may only be two nights not sure how long the person can stay in one but the sleeping pods are amazing with a bed, a toilet and a phone charger offering a welcome and inviting place for the person to stay. Companies can even sponsor one and I asked if the company can get their name printed on the sleeping pod and you can do this is a great way for companies to help local area. Another way Amazing Grace Spaces want to help the local area is by providing Innovative low cost housing and provide 10 substainable low cost move on accommodation units by 2020.
In order to do both projects The costs are Sleeping pods initial costs £50,000 plus maintenance costs. To build and run the low cost housing for three years will be between £300,000 to £500,000. If we were here to look at local statistics for my local area https://statswales.gov.wales/Catalogue/Housing/Households/Estimates/households-by-localauthority-year.
You will see that for Newport Gwent there are 64,292 households in 2017. If every household donated £5 per household this project would be funded.
